Linne or Linnaeous? - P.-S.

Ed ecco il solito sciovinista francese...
Oh, spero di non aver offeso nessuno usando una lingua di status
inferiore...
Here again the French chauvinism...
Oh, I hope I did not insult anybody using a language of inferior status...
Even though the Czeck language might not have the same status as the French
one, I do not see any reason to state it.
But, as it has been told, then let us also say that it is not correct to put
French at the same level than English...
How many papers are written today in French, in comparison to those written
in English? Very few (especially if we consider papers written by people who
have nor English nor French as their mother tongue).
I think it is correct, therefore, to pretend communication in an
International forum as this one be carried out in English, rather than in a
language known by a minority (if a choice has to be made).
But I do not intend this as a strict rule, I did not mind the reply in
French, and I did not mind the message in Czeck, I did mind the pointing out
that French was better (in status) than Czeck, that's not acceptable. I do
not recognize any special status to French, sorry.
If we want to stick to the reality, nowadays, you cannot survive
scientifically without knowing English, but without French, life goes on
quite fine (we can like it or not, but it is a fact).
In the course of time, some things go up, other go down, now the French
language goes down, and I think rightly so, if their speakers are so
arrogant.
That's life.
Best regards.
