Curatorial Assistant Position Available at The New York Botanical Garden

POSITION AVAILABLE
The New York Botanical Garden Herbarium is currently seeking a
Curatorial Assistant to participate in an NSF-sponsored project on
Solanum. Duties include entering information from labels of Solanum
into computer database; selecting, sorting and filing the specimens that
are catalogued; taking digital images of selected specimens, and other
tasks related to the Solanum project as needed.
Requirements for the position are: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) or
equivalent, preferably in plant biology (taxonomic coursework preferred)
must be organized and familiar with scientific plant names and with the
use of reference books; must be capable of accurate and efficient data
entry of botanical and geographical information; must be able to reach
specimens in cabinets 8 ft. high and at ground level; experience with
databases and herbarium methods preferable; working knowledge of Spanish
or Portuguese a plus.
The position is available immediately; applications should be received
