Begonia Systematist (Band D)
Salary Range: £20,587 to £26,763 [20587 to 26763 GB pounds]
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the post of Begonia systematist at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE). This is a two year fixed term appointment funded by the M.L. MacIntyre Begonia Trust and Edinburgh Botanic Garden (Sibbald) Trust. The principal duty will be to carry out taxonomic research to develop a checklist of Asian Begonia. You will also develop a website to disseminate the checklist and other research on Begonia, and contribute to the curation of Begonia collections at RBGE.
A PhD in plant systematics or equivalent experience is necessary. Candidates should have the ability to write taxonomic accounts unsupervised and possess a sound knowledge of botanical nomenclature. Good communication skills are needed to liaise with a diversity of international collaborators. Experience of studying the southeast Asian flora would be an advantage. IT literacy, including knowledge of botanical databases and website design would be desirable.
