Dear Dr Petterson,
This is not a parasite. This is Etlingera littoralis (J.Koenig) Giseke
of Zingiberaceae. The species shows a wide variation of color form
from scarlet with yellow margin to simple red and distribute in
southern China, Thailand, Malay Peninsular, Sumatra, Java, and Borneo.
