About the Symposium
This 5th International Symposium on tropical organisms organized by the
Zoologisches Forschungsinstitut und Museum Alexander Koenig (ZFMK) is
designed as a forum for discussions on the origin, evolutionary
maintenance, present patterns and future conservation of African
biodiversity. Biodiversity will be treated on all levels of organismic
organization, from molecules to ecosystems. Contributions on all types of
organisms will be welcome, as well as presentations on electronic data
management and theoretical models.

Phylogenetic Patterns and Systematics
Diversity Declines and Conservation
Applied Biodiversity Informatics
4 Plenary lectures: Koen Martens (Brussels), Lorenzo Prendini (New York),

Martin Eisentraut memorial lecture: Wolfgang Böhme (Bonn)

Congress Fees: 100,-, students 70,- (including 40,- for the
