The Bacteriological Code, which will change its name to cover "prokaryotes"
has also adopted the "protologue" concept, although a bit more restricted
in scope than in botany, not at present covering "discussion", but
certainly all other essential elements of name, derivation of the name,
characteristics of the taxon, designated type (and where appropriate places
of deposit of the type). Of course older works would not have such a
clearly defined protologue.
