* The Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs
has recruited more than 20,000 people (largely volunteers) to
undertake a statewide three-day survey called "Biodiversity
Days" to catalogue every species of plant and animal they can
find, both common and rare. Biologists figure there are about
15,000 visible species in the state. The results will be fed
into a state database to help determine the health of the
state's species. For more information call Peter Alden, the
state Executive Office of Environmental Affairs, at (617)
626-1192 of visit http://www.state.ma.us/envir/biodiversity.htm.
