Canid question

Janice,
      You might try getting in touch with Ronald M. Nowak (editor of
Walker's Mammals of the World).   He is pretty knowledgeable about wild
canids, and if he doesn't know the answer, he may well know someone who
would.  Unfortunately I don't know where Ron is now located.
