One of the definition of "Iberia" is
(see, for example, "Websters's Geographical Dictionary"):
Ancient region S of the Caucasus Mts (part of Transcaucasian region),
bordering Colchis on W, Azerbaidzhan on E and Aremenia on S;
Now this territories corresponds nearly with Georgia (not state
of USA :) , but former Soviet Republic).
Iberians, as allies of Mithridates VI, were defeated by Pompey.
Thus, the epitheton "iberic*" sensu some Russian authors is
"georgian".
