But as has also been noted, there is often disagreement whether certain
genera should be lumped together or not. If there are only two main
viewpoints, you could say Agrostis spp. (sensu stricto or sensu lato). With
more than two, you might have to be more specific, like Agrostis spp. (sensu
Jones). I don't think there is any particular formal way to do it.
On the other hand, there is a formal way to show that a particular
species has been moved from its original genus, namely putting parentheses
around the name of the author. Agrostis sp. X (Jones, 1995) would show
that species X was put in another genus by Jones, but subsequently moved to
Agrostis.
