Greetings.

After doing some research myself I asked Freek Vrugtman for help and he
suggested I contact you (list owners of TAXACOM) to request that you place
my request for assistance in your email discussion list.

I have been reviewing legal documents where the name of a plant is reported
as Leucothoe fontanesiana axillaris.

I have not found any reference that indicates that this may have been an
older name.  My assumption is that the correct name should be Leucothoe
axillaris.  The characteristics of the plant match the descriptions of the
species L. axillaris.

Would there have been any reference that might have caused this naming
confusion?  Unfortunately I am unable to ask the person who provided the
information in the document and what may have been meant that combinations
of names.

I appreciate any assistance that can be given.
