Dear All,

Karl (or is the correct spelling "Carl"?) Friedrich Philipp von Martius
undertook an expedition to Brazil under the support of the bavarian king
Maximilian Joseph the first, from 1817 to 1820.

After the expedition, he published a work named "Tabelae Physiognomicae" (I
hope I did not make any mistake), 1837. In this work he subdivided Brazil into
a series of phytogeographical provinces, named after greek nymphes. Who knows
the names of these phytogeographical provinces? The "tabelae" are available
somewhere on the Internet?

Also, according to Helmut Sick (Ornitologia Brasileira), in the volumes "Flora
Brasiliensis" (published from 1840 to 1906) Brazil is subdivided into five
phytogeographical provinces. These provinces coincide with the provinces of the
"tabelae" and are correctly cited by Sick?

     Thank you very much, Thomas
