Distribution maps

Having glanced at a recent issue of Annals of the Entomological Society
I was reminded of the reluctance of systematists to include distribution
maps. The volume in hand included several phylogenetic treatments, and
some also commented on biogeography. But most of the articles did not
bother about mapping the distributions of their taxa. This is my plea to those
on TAXACOM to please, PLEASE, include maps. It is possible that this
is of no interest to individual systematists, but if you are interested in
the greatest
use of your systematic papers, the inclusion of distribution maps is going
to facilitate that end by efficiently showing people such as myself the
potential biogeographic relevance or significance of the study.
