Duties:    The incumbent of this position will lead the planning and
operation of the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS) program
by coordinating with ITIS partner organizations (national and international)
in developing short-term and strategic plans for ITIS development, setting
priorities for ITIS enhancement and data development; and in identifying
funding and staffing resources and resource needs.  The incumbent will also
be responsible for overall management of the ITIS Program to ensure
scientific credibility and customer satisfaction.  They will lead efforts to
acquire additional funding and/or staffing resources necessary to meet ITIS
Program goals, by developing and justifying budget increase requests
and/or by seeking opportunities to collaborate with and leverage related
programs and activities.  They will represent the U.S. Geological Survey,
ITIS and the ITIS partners as the principal scientific, technical, and
programmatic expert at national and international meetings, negotiations,
workshops, conferences, and presentations.
