Congress on Authenticity

Dear list members,

The International Congress on fish and meat species identification, titled
"Authenticity of species in meat and seafood products" will be held on
September 18-20, 2000 in Vigo, Spain. Authenticity of fish and meat
products has become a very important issue related with fraudulent
substitutions of species in commercial products, the regulation of species
included in products, and species that may be endangered or  are not safe
for consumers. The lecturers will be specialists in each area.

Papers are invited on relevant topics of the conference, including:

1- Legal, industrial and environmental fish and meat authenticity issues
2- State of the art protein and DNA-based methods for fish and meat
identification
3-  Lecturers from companies aiming to offer the latest and quickest
methods for meat and fish species identification using protein and
DNA-based techniques.
4- Food labelling for transgenic organisms
