Dear colleagues,

this might be of interest to some of you (at least I hope so).

All the best for a merry Christmas and a successful year of 2000
                                           Greetings
                                        Michael Schmitt

P.S. I crosspost this also to ENTOMO-L, my apologies to all double-receivers.

The Alexander Koenig Research Institute and Museum of Zoology, Bonn,
Germany (Zoologisches Forschungsinstitut und Museum Alexander Koenig,
Bonn), seeks to fill the position of a

                       Systematic Zoologist (Researcher)

We look for a Ph.D. scientist with a substantial record in phylogenetic and
other biosystematic research in the field of zoology (to be certain:
including entomology). She/he should be able to work on modern problems of
biodiversity from a sound theoretical basis and will be able to apply an
array of appropriate up-to-date methods. The successful candidate should be
able to combine collection-based research and modern phylogenetic
approaches. She/he will be in charge of our molecular laboratory where
investigations on vertebrates and terrestrial arthropods are running. We
expect her/him to integrate successfully into ongoing research and teaching
programmes and to be strong in applications for externally funded
research projects.

The candidate will be active in research projects and have the
responsibility for the curation of part of our insect collections. He or
she will also be involved in internal management affairs and in the scientific
self-administration of the institute.

Employment will be available for a period of five years. Pending on
performance the candidate may obtain tenure at a later point. According to
German regulations applications by female and disabled scientists will be
given priority in case of superior or equal qualification if compared to
male candidates. Salary is equivalent to grade BAT IIa in the German Public
Service scheme.

The Alexander Koenig Research Institute and Museum of Zoology (Zoologisches
Forschungsinstitut und Museum Alexander Koenig, Bonn) is a non-university
research institution within the frame of the Gottfried-Wilhelm-Leibniz
Research Association (WGL). The institute holds considerable scientific
collections, a library specializing in systematic zoology, a scanning
electron microscope, laboratories in the fields of histology, bioacoustics
and molecular biology and further infrastructure elements.

Applications should include the usual documents, a complete publication
record, selected publications and should be delivered in hard copy to the
director of the institute ("An den Direktor des Zoologischen
Forschungsinstituts und Museums Alexander Koenig, Prof. Dr. C. M. Naumann,
Adenauerallee 160, D-53113 Bonn, Germany") by 1 April, 2000. Inquiries:
