Crisis at CM Herbarium

The members of the Vascular Plant Technical Committee of the Pennsylvania
Biological Survey were shocked to learn of the firings of Sue Thompson and
Fred Utech.  The VPTC prepared and sent a letter expressing our concern for
the future of the CM herbarium to the Board of Directors of the Carnegie
Museum.  Our letter was signed by many of the professional botanists in
Pennsylvania.  We are anxiously awaiting a response from Carnegie regarding
their plans for the herbarium.

Let me add my voice to that of Allison Cusick in requesting a show of
concern from the plant systematic community for the future of this very
important collection.
