*Dear* Taxacomers:
Thank you *so much* for your prompt and nearly overwhelming response
to my plea for help. For those who are curious, it's full name is
Odontites verna (Bellardi) Dumortier, with 5 ssp. and or varieties.
The common name is red bartsia, or eyebright. The German common name
is Zahntrost, which translates to "toothwort". It is in the
Scrophulariaceae family, (Scrophulariaceae: Rhinanthoideae:
Rhinanatheae), and for the most part is native to the warmer parts of
Europe, but may be introduced in the U.S. It is a hamiparasite,
mainly on grasses.
Again, my deepest thanks for your responses. I hope you all have a
wonderful weekend, and good luck in carrying the taxonomy banner to
greater recognition as a worthwhile and necessary scientific field.
