Thanks to all who sent comments regarding the name of an odd nomenclatural
act. Seems I am not the only one who has had trouble with this over the
years, and there were several suggestions, including using no descripter,
NEW COMBINATION, and NEW STATUS.

While many of the ideas were good, Chris Lyal of TNHM, London suggested
REVIVED COMBINATION (or Comb. rev.), which seemed really good. Then, the
big gun (ZOOLOGICAL RECORD) weighed in with COMBINATION REVALIDATED (as
Comb. rev.). I include Judy Howcroft's note for those interested.

Mike:

When indexing for the Zoological Record we have an entry of style eg

A....... b....... Author date
Combination revalidated, transferred back from
X......., p. ...

where A..... b..... is a former combination of X.... b..... which has
been shown to be valid - sometimes shown in an article with the
notation Comb.rev.

Our method of dealing with this is based on what we have come across
in the zoological literature in the past. Hoping this may be of some help to
you.
