Dear SLA. Last week I got a nice tour of the new Ursa hotel on the UMaine campus. Ursa is actually three adjacent buildings, two of which are older historic buildings that have been renovated with an eye to preserving as much of the original fell as possible. The new building Polaris was designed to fit in. I was flat out impressed. But the best part was the hotels willingness to give us a better deal. Those details are pasted below in the form of the email I received today. It is a less than five minute walk from the conference sessions and close to the Student Union and Fogler Library. The details for booking are below.Note that you get the rate no matter how many nights you stay and, should you wish to hang around The Pine Tree State for a few days, may extend your stay at the group rate.See you in June.Bruce

Thank you so much for stopping in last week to discuss your upcoming Sports Literature Association Annual Travel Conference.  I am excited this June’s event will take place within the University of Maine as our hotel aligns perfectly with timing to house your guests! 

 

I’m glad I could show you a little bit around Hotel Ursa and I am happy to assist you with a group block for your attendees.  As we discussed, our group rates are set up separately from individual reservation rate quotes online.  I am your point of contact for these.  I am pleased to share we have the availability to hold your requested 15 rooms for the potentially 5 night stay, checking in June 18th and checking out June 23rd, at a rate of $169.00.  Maine State Tax is 9%.  There are no other taxes or lodging fees applied.  Parking is complimentary and each will have a parking pass from the front desk outlining direction for hotel and University campus parking options. 

 

Keep in mind they can also order off menu from our MajorMinor Café within Hotel Ursa around your schedule of events.  

 

Please let me know if I may move forward and hold this group within our system and build a booking link you may provide to your attendees to reserve their hotel needs directly online.  As a reminder, I will not have a reservation-via-phone option until we open.  

 

I look forward to hearing back from you very soon to secure this block within our inventory for you.  Once I build your booking link, your guests may book online immediately and will have until three weeks prior to your arrival date to reserve off of this block.  This date is May 28th. Any rooms not picked up by this date will be released back into public sale and you will not be held accountable.  Any room requests following this release date will be upon room and rate availability only at that point.
