[Pols-l] Fw: Fall 2026 Active Learning Classroom Application

Hello,   Take a look at these Active Learning Classrooms.  If someone thinks they might be ideal for next Fall class the Application for Use form will need to be submitted, it looks like by the instructor, by Nov 3.  Take a look at the layout of the rooms, separate tables etc.   Could be, I think, for breakout sessions or methods/math work, table space work, lab, etc?    So, I think they will need to have an idea of what time in the standard patterns the class would take place too.    Something to think about.   I know there may be some reimagining of how we get some classes to conform to some of the new scheduling requirements, which will be more tightly enforced.       See below.

The Office of the University Registrar is excited to announce 2 centrally scheduled active learning classrooms will be available for Fall 2026. We sent the following email communication to faculty today. The 2 rooms listed in the communication will be released for Fall 2026 update with no classes assigned to allow for the faculty application process and it is important that we keep these rooms available for instructors that complete the application process. If any classes are scheduled into these rooms during the initial update period without approval, we will remove the classes and notify individual scheduling officers of the removal. We appreciate your continued support as we work to improve the classroom experiences for instructors and students.



Active Learning Classroom Application (Fall 2026)



Dear Instructors,



The Office of the University Registrar is excited to announce 2 centrally scheduled active learning classrooms will be available for Fall 2026. These were created based on feedback indicating more active learning classrooms were needed. Because we expect high demand and want to ensure the best usage possible a cross-discipline committee will review and score applications based on a rubric created in coordination with the Center for Teaching Excellence. If you are interested in teaching in one of the active learning classrooms, please complete the Application for Use of Active Learning Classrooms<https://deptsec.ku.edu/~admiss/forms/form/233> by Monday, November 3, 2025. As with all centrally scheduled spaces demand is highest from 10:00-2:00, so please be as flexible as possible with your requested times and utilize the standard meeting patterns<https://registrar.ku.edu/standard-meeting-times>.



Advanced assignments are required for use of these rooms.

The Office of Space Management continues to review and renovate rooms, and we hope to be able to continue adding similar centrally scheduled spaces.
