[Pols-l] Good news re: parking

Dear colleagues, 

I am happy to announce that Lot 15 (the parking lot under Blake Hall) has been rezoned from Gold to Blue today! Everyone with a Blue Parking <https://parking.ku.edu/parking-lots> permit should be able to park there starting tomorrow! 

As we all know Lot 15 is 90% empty 100% of the time and very few of us working in Blake qualify for a Gold permit to park there. I know I am not the only one who is frustrated with having to climb all those steps up from the Sunnyside lots while seeing so many empty spots out the window everyday. 

So I decided to file a suggestion through the Jayhawks Elevate <https://finance.ku.edu/jayhawks-elevate> program last December. This is a relatively new program set up by the new CFO to crowdsource ideas to cut waste and find efficiencies. To my great surprise, the guy who runs the program, Craig Alexander, was very easy to work with and elevated the issue all the way to the provost and she forced “the parking committee” to expedite a review and rezone the lot! I hope this change makes coming into the office a little bit more convenient and enjoyable for everyone :) 

TLDR: You can park under Blake now with a Blue permit! Jayhawks Elevate actually works pretty well, you can submit your ideas for improvements (as long it saves KU money) here:
