[Pols-l] Faculty Meeting and Graduate Program Changes

Hello,

Thank you again for a productive faculty meeting last Friday. I have two attachments.  The first one is the overview of what we agreed upon at the last meeting including the schedule of graduate courses (curriculum map). We agreed to eliminate the minor sub-field exam and that instead students should write a research paper. In addition, students are required to take POLS 870, 850 and either 810 or 720. The details are in the attachment.

We also agreed that we should have a rubric for the research paper, but we did not agree on what this should look like. Thus, the second attachment is a basic research paper outline we can use as a starting point.

If you have comments and suggestions for the research paper outline (rubric) then use track changes and send document to me and Nazli. You should add the date and your initials to the file name when you send it to us. We will collect all the comments within the next few weeks and then put together a committee with one rep from each sub-field to review the comments and put together a final draft. Hopefully we can get this done before Fall semester starts.
