As you know, Research Rising<https://research.ku.edu/research-rising> will launch a series of major new research initiatives aligned with KU’s strategic research priorities. Interdisciplinary teams are coalescing around big ideas and honing their vision for projects that will address major challenges facing humanity.

The deadline for first-round white papers is approaching on Dec. 7, and we need your expert assistance identifying internal reviewers. We will assemble two distinct, interdisciplinary panels to assess proposed projects while avoiding direct conflicts of interest.

Please identify potential faculty reviewers from CLAS and submit them to ovcr at ku.edu<mailto:ovcr at ku.edu> by Monday, Nov. 22. We’re seeking a diverse mix of faculty representing different disciplines, career stages and tenure/tenure-track/non-tenure-track status. We are looking for ten volunteers for this university level service.

Participation on a Research Rising team does not disqualify someone from serving on a review committee; reviewers will not assess their own proposals.

We plan to have one (virtual) orientation meeting for the panels before the break, and one meeting to discuss recommendations in mid-January.

Please let me know if you have questions, and thank you for your assistance with this important task.

Respectfully,

Simon
