Colleagues, I hope your semesters are off to a solid start.
Please let Linda know if you are traveling to APSA this week because students are milling around asking for professors. Also please share a copy of your course syllabus with Linda.
Note that Britton and Joslyn are on sabbatical this semester and are not under any service or teaching obligations.
We have not scheduled a faculty meeting yet but please keep Tuesdays at 4pm and Fridays at 11am open on your calendar should we need to schedule a meeting.
Recommendations for merit increases will go out later in September. The timeline for faculty notification and first paycheck have not been announced.
Our fall picnic will be September 29th, 4-7pm @ Overlook Park, Clinton Lake.
Don't forget to consider funding your research through the Research Excellence Initiative https://collegedean.ku.edu/research-excellence-initiative . The first deadlines are likely to be in November, with notifications likely to begin in January.
We have a series of speakers coming to campus this fall, including a few to begin the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage. I hope that you will be able to attend these events.
I will be leaving for APSA Thursday, but reach out with any issues that you are having.
Thanks for your attention
DHM
