[Pols-l] POLS 707 poster presentation reminder

As you may know, Gail B started a tradition of poster presentations at
the end of POLS 707.  In light of the difficulty we have had getting
these posters created, I conclude she had a GREAT idea of having all of
the students try to do this.  Students have known all through the
semester that this would be needed, but some did not start till
yesterday.  I'm not entirely sure how many posters there will be, but if
you are around Blake in the noon hour, please consider coming down to
see what happens.  Honestly, I'm on pins and needles!

I'm sure there will be a couple of these posters that are quite good, so
it is worth a quick check for you. In my work with the psychologists, I
learn they've been getting away from making "sum score" scale variables
for use in regression. They propose instead a structural equation
approach.  We have one poster which will compare the 2 ways of thinking
about this.  It appears that the same results can often be obtained, and
I'm not sure if that means the simple old way is good enough or that we
were just getting lucky most of the time.

Please go to  211 Blake for the POLS 707 poster presentations, Noon – 1pm.
