We are working to implement a  4+1 model to strengthen our graduate program. Talented undergraduates pursue an additional year of study and combine advanced undergraduate coursework with a year of Masters classes to obtain a Master’s degree in Political Science.

Colleagues, I know we all hate the strategic planning exercise and all that it entails. I would rather leave you to the work I know you all prefer to be doing.



Nevertheless, we have to have something to share with the College office and for our 9/22 meeting with the Dean (2pm).



I'm attaching the latest revision of the plan we have been working with for the last few years. If you have thoughts you'd like to share by email or in person, including in groups, please let me know.



In addition, their are elements we could add including specific targets and metrics by which we assess progress, that we could add, but I would like your guidance on.



Of course most of the items listed we are already doing. Some items, like new minors, we have made progress on and I am trying to finalize for submission.



And a final note, the Provost's office has some minor suggested language changes for our bylaws (attached; changes should appear in blue). Changes to the bylaws have to be presented in one meeting and voted on at the next meeting. So I will be presenting these changes for the 9/22 meeting and asking for a vote at the following faculty meeting.
