Subject: Behavioral Sciences Review Group--Call for Proposals
Dear Social and Behavioral Sciences Chairs and Directors,
I am writing on behalf of the Behavioral Sciences Review Group. I would like to ask for your help in circulating the attached call for proposals to your faculty. In brief, the advertised program is intended to provide rigorous internal review of grant proposals from investigators in the Social and Behavioral Sciences before the application is ultimately submitted to the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, or Institute of Education Sciences.
Our intention is to pair investigators with at least two senior investigators at KU who can critique the proposal before it is submitted for review. While this internal review model is highly successful at other research-intensive institutions this is our first attempt to establish a Behavioral Sciences Review Group at KU.
The materials needed to apply to the program will require minimal effort to compile, but the benefits of participation are expected to be significant—particularly for more novice grantwriters. Please be aware that the current call emphasizes PIs who have not previously held significant federal funding. While all investigators are eligible to apply, priority will be given to those who have not yet held a federal grant. This reflects the primary goal of helping shore up the grantwriting culture in the Social and Behavioral Sciences by ensuring that we have junior and mid-career investigators “in the pipeline”.
Thank you for your assistance in advertising this exciting opportunity to your faculty.
Best,
Christopher
