[Pols-l] Reminder: Share your scholarship through Research Features

Colleagues, I urge you to take 15 minutes of your time and use the attached template to share your accomplishments and interests with the rest of the community.

Reminder:

Dear Faculty,

As the semester winds down, can you please turn in a slide as requested by the dean and associate deans of research showcasing your accomplishments. Please note that the due date is December 15 and the slides can be sent to college_research at ku.edu<mailto:college_research at ku.edu>. These will be used to show donors, alumni, and students the many things that we have each accomplished in our research, including student involvement.

It is a simple process to replace your information with that on the sample slide that is attached for your convenience and instructions are below.
If you have already sent in your slide, I greatly appreciate your helping to feature the accomplishments of our group.

The deadline to submit is quickly approaching and we would love to showcase as many of you as possible! If you are interested in partaking, please make sure to have your slides in by Friday, December 15, 2017.

Dear College Colleagues,

The College is launching a new program that is designed to showcase your accomplishments in research and creative works. We hope that you will participate in this important effort. We want to increase research funds and showcase faculty research, and a small amount of your time can really help us do this more effectively.

The launch of "Research Features" provides a new and impactful venue for us to share your research with colleagues, prospective students, alumni and donors. We plan to showcase your work and accomplishments on boards around campus and to assemble a booklet for KU Endowment to show potential donors.

We are hoping that many faculty will choose to participate in this program since it allows us to highlight your research accomplishments as individuals and collectively as a College. We are very sensitive of your time constraints, and therefore we have worked to make this process as simple and as fast as possible.

We are requesting that you submit a single PowerPoint slide that states your research area, awards/ recognitions, and how your research has engaged with or provided mentorship opportunities to students.

Attached is a template for your reference, and Prof. Lena Hileman has graciously agreed to be our example. We have found that it is easiest to simply replace her information with your own photos and text.

Once your slide is completed, please save it with a file name using the example below:

Please be sure that these are saved in PowerPoint with the widescreen format (as in the example).

Please email it to college_research at ku.edu<mailto:college_research at ku.edu>. We hope to receive your slide no later than Friday, December 15, 2017 to be included in our book for donors.

Here are the general requirements for the template:

  *   Photos (your portrait plus a photo of your research/creative work with a brief caption- see example)
  *   Name/ Title/ Department (see example)
  *   Title of Your Research Area (one phrase)
  *   Impact and Achievement

     *   Three phrases listing awards, grants, other accolades (your choice, but select the items that you are most proud of)

  *   Mentoring and Student Learning Opportunities

     *   Three examples of ways you engage students (Please list undergraduate examples as the top examples. You can also include graduate student and post-doctoral mentoring as relevant)

  *   URL for more information on your research/creative works
