Colleagues, as part of our CTE grant for professionalizing graduate students we encourage you to expand your mentorship role with the students you serve as formal advisor for.
1. If your student is teaching in a given semester, please attend at least one session of the course and provide a written peer-review of teaching for the student. Please arrange a day and time with the student's permission.
2. Please encourage your student to contact me or Amilee Turner (grad student) to begin the process of creating an e-portfolio with a focus on teaching first and research second.
3. Please review any teaching portfolio material your student has created and provide feedback. This should also include a vita.
4. If you know of a student that does not have a formal advisor please volunteer yourself to the student or encourage the student to name an advisor before the end of the student's first year.
