I'm reaching out to see if you might forward the below invitation to faculty and graduate students in your department..
[Anton Shirikov]

Dear Political Science community,

The Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies is launching a Works in Progress series this semester and you are invited! These in-person workshops will complement our existing Brownbag series and aim to provide faculty and advanced graduate students with peer-to-peer feedback on their writing. All of our workshop participants are looking forward to discussing their work with a broad audience, so participants from outside the author's specialization are especially welcome.

Our first workshop will be on Tuesday, February 25 at 4 pm in Bailey 318. We will read and discuss a draft book chapter by
Anton Shirikov (Political Science), titled "Rethinking Propaganda: How Authoritarian Media Cultivate Loyal Audiences." To attend, please RSVP to Rebecca Johnston at rajohnston at ku.edu by next Monday, February 17 at 5 pm. Graduate students and faculty who RSVP will receive a pre-circulated copy of the paper, and we will follow up with a calendar invite as well. Afternoon snacks will also be provided!

Also, mark your calendars for two more sessions later in the semester. Invites to RSVP will follow in the weeks running up to these workshops.

April 8 @ 4 pm in Bailey 318: we will discuss a draft journal article by Nathan Wood (History) on the restoration of European bison to Poland's Białowieża Primeval Forest.

April 24 @ 4 pm in KU Union English Room: we will discuss a draft book chapter by special guest Stephen Riegg (History, Texas A&M), titled "Mission and Myth in Tsarist and Western Perceptions of the Modern Caucasus."

Please direct any questions or comments to Rebecca. Have a good week and looking forward to seeing you at our workshops!
