Conversations on Global Justice: Free and Fair Elections Thursday, Sept. 24 • 4:00 – 5:00 PM • Zoom

How does the rise of autocratic rule throughout the world impact elections? What happens when laws and institutions are manipulated to undermine democratic principles? How do we ensure transparent, inclusive, and fair elections? Dr. Mike Wuthrich, assistant professor of political science and associate director of the Center for Global and International Studies, will examine participatory elections on a global scale. We will discuss questions on justice, inclusion, and fairness when it comes to elections.



Dr. Wuthrich received his PhD in Political Science from Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey in 2011. His interests are Middle East politics, particularly Turkish, Kurdish, and Iranian politics, parties and party systems, electoral behavior, religion and politics, women and politics in Turkey, and nationalism. His book National Elections in Turkey: People, Politics, and the Party System was published in July 2015 with Syracuse University Press.
