I hope the new semester is off to a good start. KASC is hosting the 2019 MAAAS ( Mid America Alliance for African Studies) Conference on September 13 and we would like to invite you, your faculty and students to the Keynote Speech:


Keynote Presentation: "Africa Rising or Repackaged Coloniality? Re-emerging Players and Enduring Risks"
Kansas Room, KU Memorial Union I 3:30 pm, September 13, 2019
Free and open to the public; Reception to follow next door in the Malott Room

Dr. Lina Benabdallah is the keynote speaker for this year's MAAAS( Mid American Alliance for African Studies) Conference that will take place on Friday and Saturday September 13-14 in the Kansas Room at the Union. Dr. Benabdallah is an Assistant Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Wake Forest University. Her research focuses on international relations theory, foreign policy, critical theories of power, and rising powers. Her forthcoming book is Shaping the Future of Power: Knowledge Production and Network-Building in China-Africa Relations (University of Michigan Press 2020).
