Good point, Kyle.  Actually on the north side, the bicycle lane is 
protected by the motor vehicle parking.  On the south side it has a 3 
foot wide buffer, to which could be added bollards.  But the City is 
squeamish about bollards, claiming they are in the way of snow plowing 
and street sweeping (which I don't agree).  So I first wanted to get the 
overall concept recognized, before venturing into bollards.  But they 
can happen if everyone pushes for them.  I'm sure game.
