Thank you, Michael. I don't think anyone is surprised at the outcome. They did move it back and gave us many more trees. That all came about AFTER the April meeting. They had not changed anything at that time.
I have already sent an email to the county clerk's office for protest petition addresses. We really do have several new neighbors.
I will keep you posted and reach out to LAN as well.
Jeanette

I hope you arranged with nearby neighbors to do the protest petition that goes to the City Commission. You have 20 days to get all the signatures and submit it to the City Clerk.
I'm attaching the July 2021 version again, but I think the legal description on the second page needs to be updated by the County Clerk, because Evergy bought additional property.
 good luck,
 Michael

 Dear LAN members,
I apologize for this short notice, but the Heatherwood Heights Neighborhood Association would appreciate your support.
Please contact the Planning Commission Members by Monday, July 25 and urge them to deny Evergy applications for rezoning, creating a preliminary plat, and a special use permit which will allow Evergy to build an industrial sized electrical substation very close to family homes.
The Heatherwood Heights Neighborhood Association opposes the Free State Substation for the following reasons:
	* It is too big to be placed so close to existing homes. This is an industrial sized substation being proposed very close to residential homes. There is no precedence for a substation this large near existing homes.
	* The substation will negatively affect the quality of life for residences of our neighborhood. The substation will emit a constant noise. It will also have cooling units which will generate even more noise during high electricity use times.
	* Electrical and Magnetic Fields emitted by the power lines may have harmful health effects.
	* The substation will decrease property values and negatively affect the stability of our neighborhood. There is a great deal of evidence that houses near power lines sell for less. Many homes near substations become rental properties which will change the character of our stable neighborhood.
	* Evergy has not demonstrated a need for a substation so large.
	* Evergy does not seem to have throughly considered other available space for this substation.
Thank you for contacting members to oppose the Free State Substation. Here is the email address:
