Help identify actions to support our local food system! The Douglas County
Food Policy Council is hosting 5 community conversations to inform the
countywide Food System Plan.

All residents of Douglas County are encouraged to participate. The meetings
will include a brief presentation of local findings from food system
research. Participants will then be invited to weigh in with their ideas
about actions and policies to support the Douglas County food system.

*The meetings will take place:*

· *Thursday, November 10, 6:00pm to 7:30pm: Lecompton Community
Building, Lecompton*

· *Saturday, November 12, 10:00am to 11:00am: Union Pacific Depot,
Lawrence*

· *Monday, November 14, 6:00pm to 7:30pm: Douglas Co. Fairgrounds,

The Food System Plan will be completed in the spring of 2017.

The initiative to create a county-wide Food System Plan emerged through the
update process for the Comprehensive Plan, Horizon 2020. The Comprehensive
Plan update process identified Agricultural Land Preservation and Local
Food System Support & Development as two of 19 key community issues. The
Douglas County Food Policy Council was tasked with creating a county-wide
Food System Plan.
