Len was an important member of the chironomid and aquatic insect community.
He will be greatly missed by many!

I have sad news  - Prof. Len Ferrington passed away unexpectedly on
Saturday while on a bike ride with friends/family.

Len’s wife, Deborah Ferrington sent the following information for sharing
with the department and others that may be interested:

       "Len will be buried with full military honors at Ft Snelling
National Cemetery on Thursday Sept 23 at 1:00. (The delay is because of the
backup in time available at the cemetery.) We will hold the visitation on
Wednesday September 22 from 4-8 pm at Holcom Henry Boom Purcell Funeral
Home (515 Highway 96, Shoreview, MN 55126). On Thursday, prior to the
service at Ft Snelling, we will have a short ceremony honoring his life
(11:00) at the funeral home. (Motorcade processional to Ft Snelling will
start at 12:00 from the funeral home.)
       My daughter is collecting pictures of Len to share as a video during
the visitation.  If you have any great pictures, please send them to Ashley
(ashley.ferrington at gmail.com).
        In the next couple of days, Len's obituary will be posted on the
funeral home website.  An obituary will be published in the Sunday Star
Tribune and Pioneer Press".
