[Taxacom] iNaturalist and the dangers of community ID sites!

Hi Peter,The purpose of posting this discussion to Taxacom is partly that I don't have anything better to do while suspended, but more constructively to highlight some of the problems at one of the world's main repositories of biodiversity data, problems that could impact the amount and quality of such data. So, for example, if Hegg can get away with taking a destructive approach to identifications, rolling back what were (in part) Research Grade observations (shared by way of periodic harvests to GBIF, etc), then that is at least worth being aware of. Similarly, the fact that the previous contributions of a user who finds themselves suspended are, as a default (but no tin my case, at present), no longer in the public domain, is also worth knowing. The full transcript is spread over too many different pages to keep track of, but here is one major bit, though be aware that some comments now seem to be selectively hidden: Flag for Comment 8449469 · iNaturalist NZ

 Stephen,
I'm not clear on what the problem is, nor what you expect to accomplish by
reporting selectively about it on Taxacom...

Without access to a full, unedited transcription of the entire sequence of
communications, I doubt that any opinions expressed on Taxacom, about the
situation, can be of much assistance.

Please, either provide links to the actual --and complete-- iNaturalist
conversation(s), or provide a full transcript (exact copy) of those
conversations.
