A while back I posted a note about the practice of designating political
boundaries according to aspiration  or territorial claims rather than  as
they stand at this time. It probably does not matter much for taxonomic
reference since the name is just a geographic label, although it can be
problematic for collaborations. But I found one interesting indication that
this issue is becoming more prominent. The journal 'Insects' (Basel) felt
it necessary to  make the following statement:

 Publisher’s Note: MDPI stays neutral with regard to jurisdictional claims
in published maps and institutional affiliations.

I wonder if such declarations will become standard ifor journals in the
future.
