Stearn, Botanical Latin has a 30-page chapter (XVII) on “Geographical Names”. The third edition of the work is on the web in various formats at: https://archive.org/stream/BOTANICALLATINWILLIAMSTEARN/BOTANICAL%20LATIN%20WILLIAM%20STEARN_djvu.txt
For example a searchable pdf is at https://ia600805.us.archive.org/3/items/BOTANICALLATINWILLIAMSTEARN/BOTANICAL%20LATIN%20WILLIAM%20STEARN_text.pdf
Stearn does discuss Linnaeus’s use of geographical terms that are at variance with modern assumptions, e.g. “Aethiopia” being an area near the Cape of Good Hope, not in northeastern Africa

Dear all,
Does anyone know if there is a database listing the localities that were mentioned in Species Plantarum and current countries they belong to?
Thanks so much!
Alina.
