[Taxacom] Outreach Coordinator position at the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration at UCSB

The position of Outreach Coordinator is available in the Cheadle Center for
Biodiversity (CCBER) at the University of California, Santa Barbara as a
full or part-time position. CCBER fulfills the University's mission of
education, research, and outreach through its stewardship and restoration
of campus lands and preservation and management of natural history
collections.

The Outreach Coordinator is involved in all aspects of the outreach and
education program at CCBER and manages or oversees broad areas. In
collaboration with Cheadle Center biologists, the CCBER Kids in Nature
Outreach Coordinator, and under direction of the CCBER Director, the
Outreach Coordinator develops, designs and implements outreach programs;
communicates broadly with UCSB and the public about CCBER efforts; and
fundraises for the CCBER outreach program. Duties include ensuring that
assessments of outreach curricula impact are performed about outreach
initiatives according to UCSB, State and Federal guidelines, and in
collaboration with professionals in this field.

The position is available full or part-time, and offers a competitive
salary and benefits. The initial appointment is for one year. Continuation
beyond one year will be based on performance and funding availability. The
ideal start date for the position is July 1, 2018. The department is
especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and
excellence of the academic community through research, outreach and service.

Basic qualifications: Applicants must have an earned a Masters or 5 years
equivalent experience in natural history museum sciences, biodiversity
science, evolutionary biology, environmental science, ecology, or related
sciences. Additionally, must have experience teaching in a K-12 classroom,
after school program, or other outreach program.

Additional qualifications: Appointees should have experience working
independently under supervision, and also collaboratively within a
multidisciplinary team.

Preferred qualifications: PhD in organismal biology, ecology or associated
disciplines, experience working in natural history collections outreach,
demonstrated experience writing peer reviewed publications and competitive
grants and/or teaching credentials in the state of California.
