Surely lectotype designations relegated to a Word/pdf etc file in online
downloadable supplementary material must be unavailable according to the
ICZN Code since they would not be considered as validly published under the
Code.

If these designations were included in an appendix which formed part of the
actual publication that would be another matter.

On the other hand, since taxonomy is not regulated under the Code, taxonomic
treatments in supplementary online material which do not contain any
nomenclatorial acts would be acceptable, but not ideal.

Adam.
