Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research is seeking applications for the position of Portfolio Leader – Characterising Land Biota. This is a full time, open term position with hours split across Systematics Portfolio Leadership (0.8 FTE) and Research (0.2 FTE).
The portfolio leadership role is a key leadership position in Manaaki Whenua, with responsibility for setting the direction for research by c.30 people in the Characterising Land Biota portfolio., This role is key to ensuring that the biologically-based national Databases and Collections of fungi, bacteria, plants and arthropods hosted by Manaaki Whenua meet New Zealand’s biosecurity, conservation and Māori needs, both now and in the future. There is no line management of people in this role.
The research role is focussed on mycology and plant pathology; the applicant should have a PhD in these or related fields.
