As there is periodic reference to the issue over the importance of taxonomy
I would like to draw attention to a recent article on biosecurity
entomology in Australia as it gives quite an exhaustive (and sometimes
funny - the author holding a giant animatronic khapra beetle (Trogoderma
granarium) being my favorite) overview of how much taxonomy is so critical
and also works cooperatively in addressing the multitude of challenges
presented by the potential for exotic insect invasions and insect impacts
on human health. Anyone interested to read please let me know and I will
send a copy.
