Every time this institute fails to provide in their Taxacom ads the job
description of the speciality they have a vacancy for.

This time it's something about auto recognition of plant species from images.

Here it is so others don't also waste their time:

Senckenberg BiK-F invites applications for the DFG/LIS project
“Mobilization of trait data from digital image files by deep learning
approaches” Scientific Researcher (m/f) / PhD Position (optional) (65%)
Candidates are expected to develop a framework for automated recognition
of plant species and characteristics from plant image data, in particular
digital photos (e.g. from the website www.africanplants.senckenberg.de)
and scans of herbarium collections. This implies the deployment and
adaptation of machine learning techniques, with a special focus on deep
learning methods for image processing (e.g. Convolutional Neural
Networks). This approach and resulting data will be used in combination
with environmental datasets for use cases in phenological state and taxon
recognition. Candidates must have an interest in interdisciplinary work at
the interface of computer science and organismic biology. It would also be
an advantage to have experience with ontologies and databases as well as
knowledge of basic concepts of ecology, botanical systematics and
morphology. The possibility of a PhD thesis is also given.
Your tasks · Implementation of plant species and trait recognition ·
Application of this approach in a number of predefined use cases ·
Scientific publication of results in cooperation with involved scientists
