Steve:

In Blake’s monograph (pp. 6–7), he wrote:

“The herbaria in which the specimens cited are located have been indicated by letters (B = British Museum of Natural History; G = Gray Herbarium; J = Herbarium of the Botanic Department of Jamaica ; K = : Kew. Herbarium).”

It would seem most likely that “BG” meant that there was a specimen at both “B” (=BM) and “G” (=GH).

Seasons greetings to all,

John

Subject: [Taxacom] Herbarium BG

Hello all,

S.F. Blake in his 1916 monograph of *Polygala* give the holotype of *Polygala
rectipilis* (Metcalfe 1274) as being at BG, which Index Herbariorum lists
as University of Bergin, Norway. The specimen is not at that herbarium.
Could Blake have meant a different institution in 1916?

Steve
