Many of the principle textbooks that came out after about 1980 (some of which have been revised and re-issued) have useful accounts of developments in systematics in the 20th century and further back. A few other books like Hull (1988) may also be of interest. There are many review articles that deal with developments in the systematics of individual groups also. Here are a few texts to start with:
Science as a Process: An Evolutionary Account of the Social and Conceptual Development of Science
by David L. Hull, 1988. University of Chicago Press.
ISBN 9780226360515

Phylogeny Reconstruction in Paleontology

Systematics and Biogeography: Cladistics and Vicariance

Biological Systematics: Principles and Applications, 2nd Edition 2nd Edition

Subject: [Taxacom] History of C20 taxonomy?

Hello. I appreciate that this is a bit off-topic, but I have been asked to write something on C20 systematics for a new Cambridge University Press volume and am finding it very hard to locate secondary sources. If anyone knows of any reviews, reflections, etc that discuss this, and/or knows of anyone who has researched it, please email directly (j.j.endersby at sussex.ac.uk), so that I don't clog up people's inboxes with semi-relevant material. (Happy to post a brief summary bibliography to the list, once I have one.)

Many thanks, Jim
