Again, in many ways laudable. Publishing a description, a photo, and a DNA barcode (e.g., http://bins.boldsystems.org/index.php/Public_RecordView?processid=NSPAF375-15 ) is great. I would argue that submitting the sequences to GenBank and the distributions to GBIF is only going to increase their "practical application” and their potential use way beyond people who might care about dragonflies.

I’m also the last person to want barriers put in the way of rapid publication. I guess I’m frustrated that this seems to be an “either/or” situation. Either we get stuff out quickly (as a PDF with little, if any data in machine readable form or deposited in databases) or we publish in a way that maximises the utility of the data (but at the cost of author charges, and sometimes tedious data entry processes).
