I managed to get a small bottle of the dimethyl hydantoin formaldehyde (75%) from a chemical company a while back, and found it collapsed sensitive tissues in mosses. An agent later called me and asked how many drums of the stuff I wanted to order ....

DMHF (dimethyl hydantoin formaldehyde resin) has been used for small
insects. A home made variation could be lomper
(http://markgtelfer.co.uk/water-soluble-mounting-medium-for-genitalia/).
I have used the latter for genitalia but not for small insects. A key
point is matching the osmotic pressure so you would need to experiment
a bit.

Best
