I think the difference is that I tend to look at the species and what is
best of the species.
Try get a import permit from the USDA for a life large animal to be
destined to become a pet. Good luck with that, but I can pretty much
guarantee you that such a permit would not be issued. It is a whole
different ballgame to import some specimens for science. So, it was not
a viable option, and that does not change no matter how many times
people keep repeating it.
